Emergency Relief for Cyclone Amphan!

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu

As we  are busy with the our prayer during the end of Ramadan, Bangladesh & Eastern India experienced Amphan, the most powerful cyclone to strike  in 20 years, has killed at least 88 people. In Bangladesh, Sundarban & Shatkhira experienced the most  knocking down trees, homes, washing away livestock, and leaving many homeless.

The United Nations office in Bangladesh estimates 10 million people were affected, and some 500,000 people may have lost their homes.

“I have never seen such a cyclone in my life. It seemed like the end of the world. All I could do was to pray … Almighty Allah saved us,” Azgar Ali, 49, a resident of Satkhira district on the Bangladesh coast told Reuters news agency.

Three weeks ago, NABIC distributed food packages to the poorest areas in Gabura (Next to Sundarban), Shatkhira. NABIC has been supporting the pond preservation project for the past ten years and supporting 250 orphans & many needy families. Due to cyclone Amphan, everything in the area was washed away and the devastated people need immediate help.

We urge you to consider supporting our brothers and sisters in Gabura, who just recovered from cyclone Sidr and got afflicted again by cyclone Amphan.  The month of mercy, forgiveness, prayer, and charity is leaving us soon. In these last days of Ramadan, please support us in this noble cause with your Zakat & Sadaqa.
