Free Eye Camp Launched at Savar Under Prevent Blindness Project

Inaugural Camp at Savar Center for Humanity Serves 250 Patients and Successfully Completes 30 Cataract Surgeries

SAVAR, DHAKA — Committed to restoring vision and eliminating preventable vision impairment among underserved communities, the North American Bangladeshi Islamic Community (NABIC) has officially launched its Prevent Blindness Project. The inaugural free eye care camp was organized and successfully conducted at the NABIC Center for Humanity (NCH) in Savar.

During the camp, experienced ophthalmic teams provided comprehensive eye examinations, specialized consultations, and essential medical care to a total of 250 patients from low-income households. Following preliminary screenings, 30 patients diagnosed with severe visual impairments underwent successful cataract surgeries at no cost to restore their sight.

Through this targeted initiative under the Prevent Blindness Project, NABIC aims to reduce the burden of avoidable blindness, improve overall quality of life, and expand accessible, specialized healthcare across marginalized communities.
