NABIC Supports Flood-Affected Families in Chittagong
BASHKHALI, CHITTAGONG — In response to severe localized flooding that disrupted livelihoods and heightened food insecurity, the Emergency Flood Relief Distribution Program successfully delivered immediate food assistance to 1,000 vulnerable families in Bashkhali Upazila, Chittagong District. Funded by the North American Bangladeshi Islamic Community (NABIC), the emergency response prioritized low-income households, women-headed families, elderly individuals, and persons with disabilities to ensure dignified and orderly distribution. Following the successful delivery of relief packages, field evaluations now highlight the critical need for a second-phase rehabilitation initiative focusing on flood-resilient housing, safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, and sustainable agricultural recovery.
