NABIC is currently funding 31 projects, 20 in Bangladesh and 11 in USA to uplift the condition in Bangladesh and in communities we live in USA.
There are few other projects which although are not being funded by NABIC at this time are still in existence and benefiting our community members.
NABIC’s projects serve 5 major areas where most communities need help and are embodied in acronym REACH and elaborated below:
- R- Relief and Rehabilitation
- E- Education
- A- Alleviation of Poverty
- C- Community building
- H- Health care
Relief and Rehabilitation
NABIC not only strives to provide immediate relief from natural and manmade disasters, it also goes the extra mile to rehabilitate and provide livelihood training so that affected individuals are empowered, can take care of themselves and their families and become contributing members of the society.
NABIC’s Rohingya Relief Project not only provides clean drinking water, tents, restroom, medical care, it also plans to provide basic education to Rohingya children.
NABIC is currently providing funds to take care of educational and other needs of children affected by cyclone Sidr in 2007 in Bangladesh along with providing income generating activity training to adults.
NABIC’s education program ranges from providing primary education to children in remote villages (Gabura, Satkhira), at Safe home for orphans and destitute children in Gazipur, Dhaka to financing talented students of Bangladesh to compete in International competitions.
NABIC also provides scholarships to students in USA.
Center for Ethics Education is a unique project NABIC started in collaboration with Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), Dhaka which is designed to uplift the ethical and moral values of the people of Bangladesh.
Alleviation of poverty:
Poverty is the root cause of many social evils. When poverty affects, people tend to loose religion, morality.
NABIC is active in alleviating poverty through funding a number of projects like micro credit, child sponsorship program in Bangladesh and food banks for the needy in USA.
Loss of community in societies is considered by many a key cause of social disintegration and emergence of many harmful behaviors. Building community is a means to increase social justice, individual well-being and reduce negative impacts of otherwise disconnected individuals.
NABIC puts significant efforts to build communities through funding projects to extend shelter home for destitute and orphan girls, starting anti dowry project in Bangladesh and Udhyia programs both in Bangladesh and USA.
NABIC’s health care projects include free medical clinics in remote areas like village Chapur in Brahmanbaria, Karmirhath general hospital in Gaibadha and specialized Glaucoma Research and Eye Hospital in Dhaka.
To improve general health of the population, NABIC has been active in providing Arsenic free and clean waters in Chapai Nawabganj and Sathkhira respectively.
