ISNA had their 48th annual convention on 1-4th July at Chicago, IL. The theme of this year’s convention was “Loving God, Loving Neighbor, Living in Harmony”. The convention started with the Jumma prayer Friday July 01, 2011. NABIC actively participated in this convention. NABIC activity started with a reception for the members and supporters on Friday, July 1, 7:00-8:30 PM at Hyatt Regency in the “Heathrow” meeting room. NABIC immediate past President Dr. Rashed Nizam presided over the meeting. He welcomed the NABIC members and supporters and introduced new Interim Executive Director Fazle Elahi Chowdhury to them. He briefly spoke about NABIC sponsored projects in Bangladesh. All the members and supporters introduce themselves. Mr. Fazle Elahi Chowdhury thanked the participants for coming to the reception. Afterwards a beautiful short film documenting NABIC’s main projects was shown to the audience. During the reception 4 families became life members of NABIC. On Friday a booth was opened in the ISNA bazaar to display NABIC activities and communicate with visiting members and supporters. The booth was open till Sunday night. On Saturday, July 2nd NABIC sponsored a table in the Community Luncheon. NABIC also had a parallel session on “Poverty Alleviation and Micro Credit Programs: Success and Challenges” on Sunday, July 3 at 10:00 AM, presented by Dr. Ataul Karim and Dr. Abu Baker Ahmed. The session was moderated by Dr. Rashed Nizam. Dr. Ataul Karim presented the history and global aspect of Micro Credit and Dr. Abu Bakar Ahmed discussed the achievement of NABIC sponsored Micro Credit program in Bangladesh.
